Two romantic nights..okay not really

On Sunday morning Cal told me that he was going to head down to St. George for a guys trip with his brothers and parents. I had no problem with him going, especially since I have gone to San Diego a handful of times without him. Figured it was his turn :) Little did I know being on this end of things would I be SO bored. I have worked on homework, taken 2 hour naps, watched whatever I wanted to and relaxed. It's been nice but I miss him a lot. Tonight is his last night out of town so I have been playing around on my blog making things look pretty!

School started back up for Cal and I last week, only two more semesters and we are outta here! It will be bitter-sweet when we move but I am excited to live back in San Diego! We have had some many great memories here but we are ready to start our own lives in a new place together.

I have been doing new things around the house that I will be posting pictures of soon. I have been really bad at blogging but I am going to work at posting more often.

Im not baby hungry but...I saw this little boy today in ugg boots with his skinny jeans tucked in and a plaid shirt and long blonde hair. I fell in love! My son will wear ugg boots on cold days in San Diego (which is like 65 degrees) but still he will still wear them. So adroable!!

So I bought a duvet cover about two years ago. I love it because I can accent it with any colors. Since having a massive animal living in my house it now has rips in it because Cal loves to body slam this animal which turn into wrestling and ripping my duvet cover. Awesome...

No, I'm not pregnant..not even close. No babies for us :) Anyway I have had a month off of school and I have a few things that I'm working on..painting my kitchen cupboards, my TV trunk, finding a corner dvd cabinet, training the Norm not to be on a leash, and working on the summer body :) I walked outside today at 10:30 and it was 75 degrees. Back home I would put on my suit and head straight for the beach, no such luck in this awesome state (sense the sarcasm). Anyway..back to my point, I am craving a few things in my life...

It was Cal's 24th birthday on Friday..We had a weekend of fun!! Friday morning we woke up at 6:00 (for anyone who knows me that is unheard of) to go to IHOP before Cal went to work.

Friday night we went to J. Wongs for dinner with the Andrus family. Yum!

Saturday night my friend Arica and I planned a joint birthday party for our husbands. It was so much fun and they had a great time!!

I'm exhausted...Happy Birthday CAL!!

I'm going to try to make this posting short and sweet in hopes that I wont break down. This past week my cousins family lost their sweet little boy Beck. Beck was extra special to me, I was his nanny for a year and a half of his life. His obituary sums up what a sweetheart he was.

Beck Rippy was born on November 12, 2007 to Tyler and Chelsea Rippy of American Fork, Utah. He rejoined his Heavenly Father on April 23, 2010, due to complications with pneumonia.

Beck was, in every sense of the word, a blessing. The perpetual light he carried with him could find its way into even the hardest of hearts. Despite a few developmental challenges, this small boy was able to communicate the love and courage his soul contained.

Beck's happiness, his playful spirit, his angelic countenance, and his teasing smile were contagious to every person who came in contact with him. To see his face would be to look into something greater than all of us-- a peek into heaven.

Beck is survived by his proud parents, his adoring brother Evan (9) and his doting sister Kate (7). He is also survived by his grandparents Jim and Sue Rippy and Randy and Kerry Stenson. His great-grandparents, his many aunts, uncles, and cousins will greatly miss him, and will forever be affected by the short but powerful role Beck played in their lives. We love our Beckster.

I will miss him SO much, he has changed my life. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of him.

It has been forever since I have updated my blog. (I feel like this is how I am starting every entry) Let's see where do I start...I just finished my first semester up at LDSBC in Interior Design and I absolutely LOVED it! I learned a ton, made new friends and found my twin! I'm headed back in a month to start my summer semester. Cal got a new job this past week at Orange Soda at an internet marketing company! He is majoring in marketing, so this is perfect! As for Norman, he got an ear infection because his ears are massive (another vet bill). Yesterday he stuck his head in a flower bush and was stung on the eyelid by a bee. Awesome.
Majoring in Interior Design probably isn't the best thing for our bank account. I can't stop buying things for our house, painting the walls and buying more things for the house. I previously posted about painting our bedroom a grey color and I finally uploaded the pictures today! Let me know what you think (thanks Air and Andrew for your help).

I also bought a new pillow for the bed...Thank you Anthro!

V8 JUICE

Last week was like any other day at school. I was in the middle of talking to my friend and broke the seal of my V8 juice and then set it down again, and continued my conversation. After I had finished talking to her I picked up my juice and shook it (tomato juice settles) forgetting I had broken the seal....V8 juice exploded all over me!! Dripping down my face, down my shirt, in my hair and on my pants. I turned to my friend Arica and just said "OH MY GOSH!!". She looked at me and I had thick V8 juice dripping down my eyelids. Keep in mind that this all happened at the beginning of class. My teacher said that it looked like OJ Simpson had come into class. Awesome! In all the chaos I didnt get a picture of it...I wish.

Taylor Came To Visit!!

Taylor is my best friend in the whole world!! She is a mini me and I love absolutely everything about her! She has been having a hard month..so a getaway to see me is just the thing to make things better! I picked her up on a Wednesday eve and the party didnt stop till Sunday night. I miss her so much! We did everything from playing with Norman, going to Salt Lake, going out to eat (every meal) and other random things that entertain us! Taylor, I miss you please come back soon...

San Diego and Catalina

We went to San Diego (my favorite place) to spend the holidays with my family. We had the best time and I couldn't be more happy while I'm down there. We had a great Christmas and it was the first time Cal was with my family for the holidays. The day after Christmas we went to Catalina Island for the day. It was a lot of fun! I dream about living in San Diego everyday! Less than two years! Yes I'm counting down :)

I have slacked completely on blogging lately. Life has been crazy! I'm attending the LDS Business college majoring in the Interior Design program. I LOVE IT!!! I have made a new friend, who is pretty much my twin. School is taking over my life but I love what I'm learning!

One of my new years resolutions is to write on my blog at least weekly. I'll do it :) Cal is working full time and going to school full time as well. Life is super busy right now, but we are looking forward to our future!

Football

On Saturday we were invited by Cal's Dad to go to the BYU football game vs. Air Force. Even though the weather report said that the high was going to be 34 that day we thought it would be so fun. So we bundled up and headed to Lavell Edwards Stadium. When we got there we headed over to the tent where they serve you yummy food before the game. Cal's Uncle donates mula to BYU so we got the tickets through him. After we ate some food we went to our seat 12 row up on the 50 yard line. Amazing seats! The game was awesome and BYU beat Air Force. It was so fun!

A few weeks ago the hubby, norman and I went down to San Diego for our fall break from school. A day before we left we found out that Taylor was on the homecoming court with four other girls for homecoming queen!! It was an added bonus to be able to be down there to see my parents walk her down the red carpet. We couldn't wait!! When we first got to San Diego we decided to go to the beach which is Normans favorite thing to do!!

That night we went to the Torrey Pines homecoming game. After the game it was time to announce the homecoming queen.."the homecoming queen of 2009 is...TAYLOR RIPPY!!!" we couldn't believe it..we were so excited!! Afterwords we took a ton of pictures because our whole family was there and so happy! Congrats Taylor!!

We had the best time!! We can't wait to live there in a few years!!

My Birthday Weekend

On Friday I turned 23! I had a great weekend thanks to the husband. It all started Thursday night when my boss Chelsea text me Happy Birthday and told me I had Friday off..Paid :) So after sleeping in Friday morning, I did stuff around the house relaxed, went shopping etc. Then I met Cal and friends up at Red Iguana in Salt Lake (my favorite restaurant in Utah). We had an amazing dinner and had a great time. I don't have any pictures of Cal and I at dinner because the picture we took made me look like a cow so I decided not to share it. :) Then Cal had booked a suite at the Hilton in downtown. When we walked in I was in shock! It was a three bedroom suite with a kitchen two HUGE flat screen T.V.s on the walls, a king size bed and a hot tub in the bedroom ;) Huge Jacuzzi

I had no idea these rooms really existed. Growing up when our family would go out of town Ray Ray would get us all a room at Motel 6. Awesome :) After checking into the room we went to the Gateway (mall) went shopping and then went to Skybox to watch the rest of the BYU game and have some dessert. Thank you for all the birthday wishes I received it made me feel very loved! :)

Cal and I are chugging along...we are both working and going to school. Cal is working at a property management company and I am still working as a nanny. We started school back up and we are in our 6th week of school. We are finally all settled in to our house in Provo, Utah. I haven't put up any pictures of the wedding or the honeymoon so I wanted to put up a few.

I love this one!!

We went to St. Martin for our honeymoon..It was AMAZING!! I loved everything about it. We had a villa to ourselves. We went exploring all over the island, went to white sandy beaches and laid out everyday.

The beaches were amazing!! Its like a postcard...with me in it.

This is the only place in the world where planes can get this close to humans. It's pretty much illegal anywhere else. haha This picture is of a Jumbo 747 coming in from France

Back to Reality

Here we are the newlywed couple and back to reality. Work, school starting soon and bills. It's so exciting to be sharing this whole marriage experience with Cal. We had an amazing wedding and an even better honeymoon. We went to St. Martin and I will be putting pictures up of the island and our adventures on facebook. Now that the wedding is over all I want to do is relive that day. Everything was perfect! The weather, the family and friends and the reception! On Monday we walked to J Dawgs from our house in Provo with Norman and then went home and painted our living room. My kitchen is my favorite room so far, but that's probably since it is the only one that is closest to being done. I love being able to have our own house to make just the way we want! That's all for now, I have to get back to that thing called work :)

Here we are 5 days from getting married!!! Whooo!! I'm kind of freaking out a little hoping that everything goes well and that its everything that I have imagined. We are leaving today after work to go down to San Diego before the wedding to do pre wedding things to make sure everything is done and will run smoothly. I will put up pictures after we get back from the honeymoon and settled in a little. I have had a few breakdowns about my dress etc. I just need to relax and enjoy this time because this is the one and only time I get to do this! I'll write soon!! LOVE, LAUREN (Andrus) :)

I haven't written on my blog in a long time. So I thought it was time for me to update everyone on my life. For the past two days I have been home sick from work. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that if my symptoms get worse I should go get tested for swine flu..awesome. Good news..I dont feel as achy today but I am super weak. I took a shower today and it wore me out. On a happy note, Cal and I are getting married 4 weeks from Saturday!! Everything is going really smoothly, we sent out invitations this past week. My dress is being altered, we bought Cal's suit on Saturday..he is so handsome!! I can't wait for the honeymoon. Here are the pictures of where we are going. It is in St. Martin which is located in the West Antilles Islands. It is a neighboring island to St. Barts (where all the famous people go). A family friend of my parents owns this house on the island and it rents out for 20,000 a week and we are getting it for free. What a wedding gift!!!!

amazing I know!! Planning a wedding was really stressful now I'm just so excited to celebrate with all of my friends and family!! When Cal and I get married and back from our honeymoon we will move to a house in Provo Utah with my yellow lab Norman we both have residency in Utah so we will be going to school full time and working part time. I can't wait for married life I know that it is going to be the best!!!

So as a nanny during the week I have a lot of down time and luckily the family I nanny for has tivo. Thank you! So one of my favorite guilty pleasures is Oprah! For the past few weeks she has had some pretty intense topics, mainly about people in the world that are addicted to child pornography, who murder, or my favorite Lorena Bobbit :). Anyway after watching these episodes I started to think about how many horrible people there are in the world and how sick and twisted their minds must be. Then as I was scrolling through the shows this week she had a special about single Fathers. There was a man on the show whose wife died right after labor with their first son. As a single father he realized that his calling in life was to be a father, he now has 9 children total! All adopted from out of the country to give them a better life. He couldn't adopt in the United States because he was a single father. The ages of his childrean range from 4-19. He wakes up at 4:30 every morning to make lunches, get dinner ready for that evening and even bakes brownies for his little girl who was star of the week. He then wakes the kids up feeds them and gets them off to school and then goes to work as an attorney. Doesn't that just warm your heart? There are amazing people out there who are doing fabulous things with their lives!

Getting Engaged!!!

I just started my blog back up and all my friends wanted to hear all about the engagement etc. On April 2nd Cal took me down to the beach in San Diego. We started walking down the beach (Cal was acting super awkward), I told him that we should sit down in hopes that he would act normal. We went and sat on a lifeguard tower and started talking about how we met and what we thought of each other when we first saw each other. (I was eating taquitos at Beto's in my sweats no make up..you get the idea. He thought I looked so gross and the only reason he was interested in me was because he had seen a picture of me where I was looking cute . And he showed up in a button down shirt with white washed jeans and white skater shoes...I thought he loved himself aka sweet bro.) Then he said to me "I wish I had a ring to give you this would have been the perfect place to propose" my reaction was "you are so dumb why would you say that, just to make me sad?" He then told me he had a surprise so I closed my eyes and when I opened them he was on one knee with a ring in his hand and said "will you marry me?". Ever since then it has seemed like a crazy ride with all the planning! We are getting married July 18th of this year down in the San Diego Temple. We are SO excited!!

So this is my first blog I want to be able to keep in touch and let my family and friends know what I am up to. Update on my life, I still live in Provo with my yellow lab Norman. I love him :) I am also dating an amazing guy named Cal. We are going on our fourth month of dating and we just got back from the French West Indies with my family. Best time of my life. Im still working at Nordstrom but hopefully going to be finding another job that pays more. I am going back to school in the fall and pursuing my career as an elementary school teacher. P.S. Im so slow at this blog thing so I'm trying to figure it out :)
